Over 1 million Virginians age 18 and older do not have high school diplomas or the equivalent, and many high school students are at risk of joining this demographic. A number of programs are available to adult Virginians who want to earn their high school equivalency degree, and one (the Individualized Student Alternative Education Plan or ISAEP) is tailored to current high school students who are having trouble completing high school.
GED (General Education Development): VDOE's goal is for 20,000 Virginians to earn their GEDs each year.
Adult Secondary Programs : Adult Secondary programs include the Adult High School Diploma Program, External Diploma Program (EDP), and General Achievement Diploma (GAD).
ISAEP (Individualized Student Alternative Education Plan): ISAEP helps current high school students who are having trouble completing high school earn a GED while receiving job skills training.
